10 Questions Q: Describe your style of music? What band(s) would you compare yourself with? We're sort of a noisy angular poppy indie band. It's kinda like if the pixies, fugazi and pavement had a baby.
Q: What are your main musical influences? Everyone in the band kinda comes from different backgrounds, I, Brad, personally like things that are pretty angular and mathy(maybe some drive like jehu or maps and atlases) while at the same time I want to bring a more classic vibe to it.
Q: What/Who have been your biggest influences in life and on your lyrics? Hmmm....socialism, celeb reality, and the apocolypse.
Q: What's in your CD player, IPod? I think the last thing i listend to was the new Dirty Projectors album.
Q: What other local band would you pay to see play? Why? Hmmm Victor! Fix the Sun from Grand Rapids are pretty amazing, I also really want to see a Beast in the Field show but havent gotten around to it just yet.
Q: How did you meet? Me, mike and our original bass player Stacey met through our old bands, and Cam and Brandon were both friends that came in to fill a roll and went above and beyond that.
Q: Is there an interesting story behind the name of your band? Who came up with the name? Stacy came up with the name from one of those tiny dinosaur foam thingies you put in the sink and they end up expanding to monumental size. I think we kinda want to be Manscout now though instead...but it's too late to live that dream.
Q. Tell us about your first show together. We played a free show at a local coffee shop and although we packed the place, we were almost kicked out for being too loud.
Q. What have been the high and low points of the band so far? I'd say we havent really reached our highest point yet but we keep ascending, we're just starting to get our merch together and put out an e.p. for instance and those are two exciting things for us. As far as low points go playing shows were the local bands don't draw has been kinda lame but I wouldnt call that a low point so much as just something you have to go through.
Q: You are the first band to play a song on another planet for aliens that have never heard our music, you can play any song ever written, what would you play? Why? We're playing for aliens ehhh? Probably Race Out by Battles, I'm sure that's a fan favorite in space by now.
